Wedding Makeup Questions
-
What is airbrush makeup?
Airbrushing makeup is a method of applying makeup with an air gun. The makeup used for airbrush can be either designed to be used with a machine or it can be a traditional foundation mixed with a mixing medium to thin the consistency enough to travel with compressed air through a gun. The word on the streets is that an airbrush makeup is ideal for sweltering summers in Vegas- and nothing could be further from the truth.

What is the difference between airbrush makeup and traditional makeup?
While airbrush makeup is sprayed onto the face, a traditional application is applied with a brush, sponge, or fingertips. Both methods can be used to create a flawless, durable finish. One of the big misunderstandings about airbrush makeup is that it is waterproof. Waterproof makeup can be applied by hand or by airbrush and the method of application does not impact how long the makeup lasts. Everyone has different skin types and different needs, so it’s important to have a foundation that is customized to fit those specific needs. If you want to really dig deeper, check out our blog post on it.
-
Do you do airbrush makeup?
Airbrush makeup is definitely one of the services we offer! However, like all makeup applications, the method is not suited for every skin type. We use both airbrush and hand applications depending on each client’s unique needs. There is no “one size fits all” makeup method, and we strongly encourage you to suspect anyone who says there is!

How long does the makeup last?
We here at the ‘Co love us some silicone-based foundations. Silicone is the little bad-ass of makeup bases; it repels water, blends seamlessly, and absorbs into the skin beautifully for a perfectly smooth finish. Also, to keep those peepers looking amazing till the after-after party, we prep the eyes with eyeshadow primer. Some of our clients have even worn their makeup to the pool the next day. We don’t recommend that, but if you do, rock on sister!
-
What brand of makeup do you use?
That's like asking us to pick a favorite child! If you’ve ever gotten a little ADD just by walking into a Sephora, you know how hard is it to choose a favorite line. That being said, we do have a tendency to use mass amounts of Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, Inglot, and Nars. And Too Faced. And Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. And MAC. And Graftobian. And…

Can you use my makeup?
The artists will arrive with all the products and tools they need for your makeup application. The only makeup you may want to provide is your lip color if you would like to make sure you have the full tube available for touchups. Unfortunately, we cannot use your own foundation or other cosmetics except for lip color for liability reasons.
-
Can you come to my hotel or wedding venue?
Yes! We are entirely on-location and your hairstylist and makeup artists will arrive at your hotel room or venue on your wedding day. Be sure to check with the venue to confirm you can get in early enough, as many venues offer their bridal suite for only a very short period of time prior to the ceremony.
-
Is the makeup waterproof?
Our professional products are typically silicone-based, and that makes them water-resistant. That means that tears and sweat will roll down your cheeks without streaking your makeup. Only alcohol-based makeup is truly waterproof, but it’s far too dry to comfortably wear on the face all day and can flake off after several hours.
Wedding Hair Questions
-
How long will my hairstyle last?
Our stylists are trained and have gobs of experience making your style last and last! We’ve heard more often than not that our clients have worn their hairstyle for a couple days after we have initially done it. That being said, upstyles generally last longer than down-styles because the pins help hold the hair in place. Just remember, even we can’t compete with Mother Nature. Wind, rain, and heat can all make turn your Hollywood waves into a tangled mess and make your fluffy updo go limp. Spring tends to be windy and rainy and late summer is monsoon season (think surprise thunderstorms) so when in doubt, choose an updo or braided style that is more sturdy with pins and bands.

How should I have my hair ready?
You need to have your hair totally bone dry and not flat ironed. That’s it! You can put product in it, you can blow dry it, you can even curl it. Just don’t flat iron it, and don’t have it wet. Some people say hair holds better if it’s a little dirty- we say go ahead and feel free to shampoo your hair, because if it’s too silky and clean we’ve got the goods to dirty it up if we need to. But, don’t have it too dirty either - if it’s on day three of a hairstyle that uses lots of spray, your hair will stick to the iron! Or, if it’s on the oily side, it could be hard to get that fluffy textured look you might want. Fresh hair or one-day dirty hair is the Goldilocks here. It’s just right.

What if my hair is too short for the hair style I want?
May we suggest clip-in extensions? If you only want long, lush locks for one event, it’s best just to go with the clip in extensions. It’s also great because next time you want that effect, you’ll already have them! Clip-ins are also a great option for fullness. We love the brand Bellami and suggest it for brides wanting to go this route. Some hairstyles simply can’t be recreated without a pack or two of extra hair, so feel free to ask us or just have some on hand for your stylist at your appointment.
-
Can you work with my extensions?
Absolutely! Sewn-in, locs, I-tips, beaded, and just about every other kind of extension can be worked with. We do make a few suggestions though: 1) Your hairstyle may need to be slightly changed to cover the tracks, so be prepared for that (no one wants their weave sticking out!) 2) The hair MUST be 100% human in order to be curled without burning or melting and 3) If you want thicker, longer hair for just that day, opt for clip-ins. Happy to pop those in for you!
-
Can you work with curly natural hair?
We love our natural-curl girls! Brides of color who do not have a perm will want to give us a heads up. We often work with curls that have already been prepped and just need pinning or arrangement. Let’s have a candid conversation about your expectations, our abilities, and what needs to happen for you to feel gorgeous on your wedding day. We will never say we can do something if we know we can’t, so let’s talk about it and if we feel like it’s outside our wheelhouse, we can let you know and help you find the right stylist for you.
General Questions
-
How far in advance should I book hair and makeup?
You will want to book your hair and makeup appointment as soon as your certain of the date and time you’ll need it. Las Vegas hair and makeup artists are very busy, we accept appointments as far out as 18 months! However, if it’s a last minute appointment, give us a call and we will see what we can do to fit you in.
-
What do I have to do to book?
Start by filling out our contact page, so that we can get all the information we need from you in order to confirm availability and quote you appropriately. Once we have that info, you’ll get an email from us (and we are pretty snappy at returning emails!) with loads of information that you probably want to know. If everything looks good to you, email us back to let us know were’ the ones for you! From there we will do up a contract and send it over along with a retainer request. Once we get both of those back from you, we’ll process everything and send you a confirmation. From there, it’s just sitting pretty till your appointment!
-
How long does an appointment take?
We don’t like to feel rushed, and we do not want you to feel rushed either. We will build our your appointment blocked based on your own unique needs. You’ll see this time frame on your reservation agreement. Generally, we like to allow 30 minutes per services with a one-hour buffer for “just in case.”
-
Can I do a preview session first?
Depending on how far out and what time of year your wedding is, we’d be happy to book you a preview session before booking your wedding so you can be sure before signing a contract. However, we cannot hold dates without a signed reservation. If your wedding date is booked before your preview session appointment, we will reach out to let you know and cancel your preview appointment.
-
When should I book my preview?
We typically suggest booking your preview at the same time you reserve your wedding date and having the appointment land sometime between 30-60 days before the wedding. This is close enough to the wedding that most of your accessories will be on hand, and if we time it right, you can do your final dress fitting on the same day. That said, we have booked previews as far out as 14 months and as close as the night before. Booking too far out means a lot could change, including your artist. If it’s the night before, that just means you get to look incredible for your last night as a single!
-
Will the same person who does my preview also do my wedding?
We only book preview sessions with the artists that are assigned to do your wedding. We would never knowingly book two separate artists - that kind of defeats the purpose of a preview. However, previews that are booked really far out run the risk of the artist having a life change that may make them unavailable for your wedding. That is one of the reasons we suggest previews no more than 60 days out.
